What is the ruling on renewing the marriage ceremony held in some mosques on Friday nights?

According to religious judgments, there are certain conditions for a woman to be deemed divorced. For example; a woman needs to be divorced by her husband or a judge who is vested with the authority to exercise divorce, or each one of the parties needs to give consent for a divorce, or one of the parties must utter a word that results in converting out of the religion (Mawsili, al-Ikhtiyar, III, 137-250). Unless there is such situation, there is no need to refresh the nikah as a duly solemnized nikah is valid for lifetime and such practices performed at mosques have no religious ground.
