Is there a religious basis for chanting dhikr in certain numbers such as 4444?

Sincerity is important for acceptance of duas and it is not a requirement to make them in a certain number (Mu’min, 40/65; Tirmidhi, Da’awat, 66). As it is not obligatory to recite salat al-tafrijiyah or any dua 4444 times or for certain times, there is no verse or hadith which expresses that they will be accepted definitely when they are recited in this way. A person who will ask something from Allah is advised to establish a two-rakat prayer (Ibn Majah, Iqamat al-Salat, 189), to praise Allah and send peace and blessings upon Prophet Muhammad (saw) (Tirmidhi, Da’awat, 66; Abu Dawud, Witr, 23), and make tawbah-istighfar before dua (Muslim, Zakat, 65).
