According to ʿAʾisha (ra), the Messenger of Allah (saw) said, “The best food that a man eats is that which he has earned himself. And his child is part of his earnings.” (al-Nasaʾi, al-Buyuʿ, 1)

According to ʿAli (ra), the Messenger of Allah (saw) said, “O My Allah! Bless the early hours [of the day] for my umma!” (Ibn Hanbal, I, 153)

According to al-Zubayr b. al-ʿAwwam (ra), the Prophet (saw) said, “It is better for one of you to take a rope and bring a bundle of wood on his back to sell, and as a result Allah will esteem him, than to ask for something from people who may or may not give it.” (al-Bukhari, al-Zakat, 50)
