ʿAʾisha (ra) said, “I never saw any woman who made food like Safiyya. She sent a vessel to the Prophet (saw) in which there was some food, and I could not keep myself from breaking it. I asked the Prophet (saw) what the atonement was for that, and he said: ‘A dish like that dish, and food like that food.’” (al-Nasaʾi, ʿIshrat al-Nisaʾ, 4; Ibn Hanbal, VI, 149)

According to Anas (b. Malik) (ra), the Prophet (saw) borrowed a bowl which he lost and compensated its owners for it. (al-Tirmidhi, al-Ahkam, 23)

According to Ibn ʿAbbas (ra), the Messenger of Allah (saw) said, “There should be neither harm nor reciprocating harm.” (Ibn Maja, al-Ahkam, 17)

According to Samra (ra), the Prophet (saw) said, “He who takes property from someone is responsible for it until he returns it to its owner.” (Abu Daʾud, al-Buyuʿ, (al-Ijara), 88; al-Tirmidhi, al-Buyuʿ, 39)

According to ʿAmr b. Shuʿayb, his father said that his grandfather (ra) said that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said, “Whoever gives medical treatment, with no prior knowledge of medicine, is responsible (for any harm done).” (Ibn Maja, al-Tibb, 16; al-Nasaʾi, al-Qasama, 40-41)
