According to ʿAmr b. Shuʿayb, his father told him that his grandfather (ra) said that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said, “There is no unlawful claiming of paternity in Islam. What was done in pre-Islamic times has been annulled. The child is attributed to the one on whose bed it is born, and the fornicator is deprived of any right.” (Abu Daʾud, al-Talaq, 33-34)

Saʿd (b. Abi Waqqas) (ra) said, “I heard the Prophet (saw) say, ‘Whoever claims to be the son of a person other than his father, and he knows that person is not his father, then Paradise will be forbidden for him.’”. (al-Bukhari, al-Faraʾid, 29)

According to Abu Hurayra (ra), the Messenger of Allah (saw) said, “Allah has removed the pride of the Jahiliyya (period) from you and boasting about lineage. (A person is either) a pious believer or a miserable sinner, and people are the children of Adam, and Adam is from dirt.” (al-Tirmidhi, al-Manaqib, 74)

According to Abu Hurayra (ra), the Prophet (saw) said, “Learn enough about your lineage to facilitate keeping your ties of kinship. For, indeed, keeping the ties of kinship encourages affection among relatives, increases wealth, and increases the lifespan.” (al-Tirmidhi, al-Birr, 49; Ibn Hanbal, II, 374)

According to Abu Hurayra (ra), the Messenger of Allah (saw) said, “...he who is slow paced in doing (good) deeds, his (high) lineage does not make him go ahead.” (Muslim, al-Dhikr, 38)
