Umayma bint Ruqayqa (ra) said, “I came to the Prophet (saw) with some other women of the Ansar to give our pledge. We said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, we give you our pledge that we will not associate anything with Allah, we will not steal, we will not have unlawful sexual relations, we will not utter slander, fabricating from between our hands and feet, and we will not disobey you in goodness’….”
(al-Nasa’i, al-Bayʿa, 18)
According to Ibn ʿUmar (ra), the Messenger of Allah (saw) said, “Do not stop Allah’s women servants from going to Allah’s mosques!” (Muslim, al-Salat, 136)
Umm ʿAtiyya (ra) said, “The Messenger of Allah (saw) asked us to invite to the mosque on the major holidays the young girls, the menstruating women, and the women who always stayed at home. The menstruating women did not participate in the prayers, but they joined in at the supplication part.” (Muslim, al-ʿIdayn, 12)
Umm ʿAtiyya al-Ansariyya (ra) said, “I participated in seven expeditions with the Messenger of Allah (saw). I safeguarded the personal property of the soldiers, cooked for them, treated the wounded, and took care of the ill.” (Muslim, al-Jihad wa ‘l-Siyar, 142)
